I have officially finished with all my finals, I am confident in my class performance, and I am ready to go home for a few weeks of relaxation (hopefully). All I need to do is pack up my pillows and my computer and I'm done. Let's hope my flight is not delayed. Next semester, I'll be taking New Testament Literature, Principals of Accounting 2, Macroeconomics, business Statistics 2, and Business Calculus. So we'll see how that goes.
For those of you who have been trying to phone me, my cell phone ran out of service a few months ago. That is why you've been unable to call or text me. I have recently (today) reinstated my phone so I am now connected to the network once again.
One of my friends will not be returning for another semester because this is her graduation month, and another may not be returning due to GPA issues. It will be a less bright place without one, but very silent without both. College can be such a heartbreak sometimes (so to speak). No, there's no one I'm genuinely interested in at the moment, and I'm still single. So don't ask when you see me next.
And now for discuss something I've been trying to get you guys to do ever since I started this blog on facebook. Why does no one comment? It just feels like I'm talking to a wall most of the time. This is not a journal, this is my window between you and college. Reciprocate, tell me what you think, discuss. This is not story time. I don't care if it's only a few words that mean absolutely nothing, just say something every once in a while. Yes, everybody can read it, but you don't have to leave your real name. Just leave me something so I know you actually read this.
*end rant*
Alright. Anyways, I leave with pictures of my current appearance. Happy Jesus Day!

One week to go
The Paper was completed on time and I'm fairly confident in my work. Don't know I if I said this already, but the last Biz Law test I took got a B. Now I just have some homework and then it's finals galore. Please pray that I do well in all of them.
Now I'd like to pose a question to all the men who read this blog. Like many, if not all, of you, I struggle with Lust. It is not towards anyone I know that I lust after, but images on the internet. Cedarville thankfully has really good filters to block the more dangerous images, but it still isn't perfect. Anyway, the question that has been bugging me is that, in light of this affliction, how am I to be a good boyfriend/fiancée/husband? Please leave an anonymous comment with an answer. This is the one time I urge you readers to actually leave a comment. Don't wait until you see me next to give an answer. Type it down now, post it, THEN talk to me next you see me.
If you wish to have something lighten the current mood, watch the video at the end of the post. Otherwise, That's all for now folks.

Christmas at Cedarville
Campus Christmas here at the college was Great! To start of the festivities, a rousing performance by Denver and the Mile High Orchestra playing jazzed up Christmas tunes. The Grinch rendition was very well done, complete with off-key whoos. Afterwards, Christmas stories with Dr. Brown, President of the University. Later, photo's with Santa followed by a late night breakfast with friends over a rousing game of Monopoly. Before the game can finish, we make our way to the DeVires Theater to get in line for Disney's "A Christmas Carol" starring Jim Carey. It was a lot truer to the book than most renditions of the story. I totally recommend that everyone watches it. It is a VERY good move. After the movie, I say good bye to some friends and chill with a few others before making my way back to the dorms and calling it a night.
That's the spiel of my highlight this week. I have a paper due Wednesday, so please pray for me in that regard. Aside from that, not much else is going on.
So to kick off the holiday season, A holiday video!
So that's all for this week. As a note, It is snowing right now and will continue to do so through Monday.
Merry Jesus Day!

The end of no-shave-november updates
This is the last No-shave November update because November will end in a few days. So here's the final pic:
So that's one month of growth. I'll continue to let it grow out until Christmas just to see if I can get a decent length on it, but won't post pictures until finals.
It's been a fun Thanksgiving break. I went to a friend's house and enjoyed the wonders of homecooking after being on cafeteria food for so long. I almost dread to go back, simply because of the food. Got the paper done, just one more to go. Now I just have one or two more tests before finals. I'm almost done, just a little bit farther. Almost... There.... *dies*
Ehem. Anyways, pray for me in my twilight hours at college. I'll need all the help I can get.
And now, a parting Video:
Sunday, November 21, 2010
The walls close in on you... you find it harder to breath... a TV repeats footage of a little girl giggling...
I'm starting to feel the pressure as my assignments begin to build on each other as we are nearing the end of the semester.
Quick update on tests gotten back thus far
OT: A-
Microeconomics: C
Info systems: B
Accounting: A (not a perfect 100 this time)
Just waiting on my other OT test, other Microecon test, Biz Law test, and then I have another Accounting test tomorrow. Then I just have to wait for a few pre-final tests and then finals. yay.
For this thanksgiving, I am returning to the House of Larry Sanders as NH is a bit far to get to from here. Although, I recently found out that I could've had a round trip for thanksgiving, had I know anyone was actually driving back to NH.
Now for a Facial Update
Now, WWI as a bar fight:
Germany, Austria and Italy are standing together in the middle of a pub when Serbia bumps into Austria and spills Austria's pint. Austria demands Serbia buy it a complete new suit because there are splashes on its trouser leg. Germany expresses its support for Austria's point of view. Britain recommends that everyone calm down a bit.

Serbia points out that it can't afford a whole suit, but offers to pay for the cleaning of Austria's trousers. Russia and Serbia look at Austria. Austria asks Serbia who it's looking at. Russia suggests that Austria should leave its little brother alone. Austria inquires as to whose army will assist Russia in compelling it to do so. Germany appeals to Britain that France has been looking at it, and that this is sufficiently out of order that Britain should not intervene. Britain replies that France can look at who it wants to, that Britain is looking at Germany too, and what is Germany going to do about it?
Germany tells Russia to stop looking at Austria, or Germany will render Russia incapable of such action. Britain and France ask Germany whether it's looking at Belgium. Turkey and Germany go off into a corner and whisper.
When they come back, Turkey makes a show of not looking at anyone. Germany rolls up its sleeves, looks at France, and punches Belgium. France and Britain punch Germany. Austria punches Russia. Germany punches Britain and France with one hand and Russia with the other. Russia throws a punch at Germany, but misses and nearly falls over. Japan calls over from the other side of the room that it's on Britain's side, but stays there. Italy surprises everyone by punching Austria.
Austria punches Turkey, and gets punched back. There are no hard feelings because Britain made Austria do it. France gets thrown through a plate glass window, but gets back up and carries on fighting. Russia gets thrown through another one, gets knocked out, suffers brain damage, and wakes up with a complete personality change. Italy throws a punch at Austria and misses, but Austria falls over anyway.
Italy raises both fists in the air and runs round the room chanting. America waits till Germany is about to fall over from sustained punching from Britain and France, then walks over and smashes it with a barstool, then pretends it won the fight all by itself. By now all the chairs are broken and the big mirror over the bar is shattered. Britain, France and America agree that Germany threw the first punch, so the whole thing is Germany's fault. While Germany is still unconscious, they go through its pockets, steal its wallet, and buy drinks for all their friends.
Now for Cat pwnage
Now to say goodbye, pray for me, test and paper this week.
Peace off.

Owwwwwwwwwwww.....
So I wake up tuesday with a strange feeling in my back as if something is out of place. I pay it no mind and continue through my day. I go to a Kenpo Karate session with a friend, and the next thing I know my back is rebelling. The next day, I am in so much pain that I have to stay in bed all day doing homework and playing video games, and eating Army MREs for my meals. I'm better now. Then Friday night, I bite my tongue a new one while chewing gum. Now I have this larger than normal area of numb taste buds. Also, I feel like I did not do so well on my Biz law test. So yeah, lotta pain this week.
Now for facial update that is explained by the above paragraph
I know. I look like someone at a line-up.
A nice thing that happened is that I had a wonderful story game session with my friends tonight. My story was tied for "Most Epic" with another that was essentially a sequel. I'll post them up in another post or something once they are transcribed.
two more tests this week, so please pray for me.
Peace out.

Merely an update
Fall back and get an extra hour of sleep. Yay!
Two tests this week so please pray for me.
Not much else to say except here's the update:
Anyway, that's all... What?
What's wrong?
Why are you staring at me like that?
Is there something in my teeth?
But my teeth aren't even showing.
Oh! You mean my hair.
Let it be known that if you have long hair and try to modify any part of it, you will have had to have started when it was short. Short version: messed up, decided to buzz. My Mullet will return, in a few months.
That's all for today.
No videos.
See ya'll next time.

The First Late Post of the year!
Sorry for the late post. This has been a busy weekend.
Now, consider this video. Does any of this ring true? Do we just blast through prayer time at meals just to fill our gullies? Do we really take prayer seriously? Are we truly thankful for the food we eat?
Consider these questions with the video, post a comment in regards to that, then click the link at the end of this post. DO NOT CLICK THE LINK AT THE BOTTOM UNTIL YOU HAVE LEFT A COMMENT.
Just to help the older people reading this figure it out, there is a link after each post that says "Comments". Click that to leave one. It's right next to the time stamp at the bottom. Just as a note, today is the first day of No-Shave November. October 31, everyone shaves, then let's it all grow out over the next month. Why? Because we can. I myself am participating in this.I'll post some pictures later today so you can all see my shaven visage. Then, Every post will have update pictures as to how my facial hair is doing. IT'S DOCUMENTING TIME!
Here's the first one. 17 hours after initial shave
Peace Y'all.

Another test has gone by, just two more to go. I also have a lot of papers to do this month. Thankfully, only two of them are of any considerable length. Please pray that I get those two done before their due date. Aside from that, not much else to say academically. This weekend was "Fall Back", a sort of weekend of fun stuff that has nothing to do with DST. They had a street fair Friday, as well as Men's Open Dorms and two showings of Inception. That movie, by the way, is one of the best I've seen. I give it two thumbs up, and a monkey wrench. If you haven't seen it, you should.
Also, I'd like to start a discussion based on the following video.

Midterms and stuff
Today day is a wonderful day! The temps are nice in the 70's, the humidity is just right, and my window is open to the breeze. Apparently, this is the time for midterms, but all my tests are spread out over the next 3 weeks with the exception of the two I just had this week (which went alright). I'll post all the results when I get all of them back.
As far as the classes themselves are going, not bad. I love Old Testament, Accounting is nice, Business Law is better than what I thought it would be, Information systems is pretty cool, and Microeconomics... Meh. It's at 8AM, and while the teacher himself is a decent guy, I would prefer to have someone else teaching. His style just doesn't click with me. I'm still working at the class though, no need for you to worry, Mom.
I also found this wonderful site you may have seen me put up on Facebook called OCRemix.org, full name is Over Clocked Remix. It's a site where people submit their fan remixes of their favorite video game tunes, and I've been busy looking through a lot of the submissions that were OKed. In order to have your music placed on the site, you need to have it pass the judges. This insures that mostly good music is all that makes it onto the site. They also have a wide range of genres from Jazz to orachestral, to metal, to techno. A very awesome site. If you like video games, go there now and see what remixes are available for your favorite games.
That's about it, now to take a look back in history to when they were developing the A-Bomb at Los Alamos.

Relaxed and slightly depressed
Ahh, nothing like an extended weekend to recharge the batteries. 'Twas fall break from Thursday and through today, and it was a much needed break. What I mostly did was stay in the the room, relax, and play video games. Don't worry mom, I did get some homework done. Not much to say on that topic. Now for the reason for the slight depression.
Alright, the next three weeks have another batch of tests so please pray for me as I study and do homework at the same time.
Peace off.
Yesterday, me, my roommate, and his gf went to Panera bread. I wanted to go mostly because I wanted to have an internet connection that was compatible with my Nintendo DS so I could download a pokemon for my game. Did not work out, but that's not the reason for the topic. We stopped off in Yellow Springs to check out a game shop, and on my way to close the car door as we were getting ready to leave for campus my coat got caught in the door. Specifically at the pocket area containing my DS. Even more specifically the door hit the DS right in the middle. The DS is fine, but the game inside, while it seems physically intact, is a complete loss. It won't start up at all. This is the Pokemon game I was talking about earlier. It had all but 4 of the 498 pokemon on it. Now, I have to start all over again. I can still do it, when I get a new game anyways. It's just that it's going to take a longer time to do it now. Hence, only slightly depressed. I'll get over it eventually, what little there is to get over at least. I will catch them all, but today is not that day. Tomorrow isn't looking that good either for that fact.
Time for an old spice remix
Alright, the next three weeks have another batch of tests so please pray for me as I study and do homework at the same time.
Peace off.

The Results are in! (Mostly)
EDIT: Business law test grade is in. added link to article that I ranted about.
I am currently clear of my first batch of tests and have received my grades for all but one.
The jury for Business Law is still out at the moment. I should find out by Monday what I got. When that happens, I'll update this post with the score.
Here's his channel:http://www.youtube.com/user/DigitalPiece
Not a whole lot, but all of it is wonderful. Spread the word.
Also, Friday was my first night managing the Savage Worlds game. The other guy succumbed to laziness and didn't prepare anything to help me along. But for entirely off the cuff, I think I did pretty well. Let me know if you would like to hear how the actually story of the game progresses.

Here are the results;
Microeconomics: C
Old Testament: A
Information Systems for Business: B
Principals of Accounting I: A (a perfect 100 that won a bet with a classmate which got me a snickers bar)
Business Law: A
In other news, our school news paper published a rather poorly constructed article about U2. And when I say that, I mean the guy who wrote the article committed an Argument FAIL. Now, I get where the writer is coming from, but his argument is rather convoluted and the main point is rather obscure.
He starts off with his background in relation to music, preferring the hymns but still liking rock bands. Then he explains his initial reactions to the band U2. At this point I'm unsure what his main idea is. Next he comments that he is unsure about what he thinks about U2 songs being played in SGA Chapel; again, not sure where he's going. He then goes into some history of U2, explaining various aspects of songs and such. And we've just completed 2/3 of the article.
Finally it looks like he's going somewhere by dropping Bono's humanitarian acts in a brief paragraph. He mentions that one pastor wishes the church had a million Bonos. At that point I'm thinking, "Hmm, more Christians giving to those in need? Hell yes! We barely tithe!" But wait, the writer says that's the problem? What? The writer was referring to looking cool and acting intelligent? Did I miss something?
According to him, being rich and having possession is a bad thing if it is more than the amount you give. He also quotes Kevin DeYoung; "Until we are content with being one of the nameless, faceless church members and not the next globe-trotting rock star, we aren't ready to be part of the church". I think this quote might've been taken out of context. The writer seems to use it to support the idea that being rich and famous is bad (which it is if you give God the backseat because of it, but otherwise it isn't). however, I think the original quote was supposed to mean that unless we are content with the fact we may never get fame and fortune and are willing to rely on God, we are like the rich man in the Bible that asked how to get eternal life. But that's my guess.
Then he goes on to say it might not be a good idea to play secular music before a time of worship. My thoughts are, "even if that secular music was written to glorify God?". In conclusion he says: "something is wrong if we'll be disappointed on the earth because Jesus isn't really like Bono at all". Where did that come from from?
Overall, I don't understand what he was trying to get at. Also, his arguments tend to not hold weight in they way they are presented. I'll post a link to the article once it's posted online so that everyone can make their own judgments.
Here's the link to the article: http://cedars.cedarville.edu/thoughts/what-you-don%E2%80%99t-know-you-can-feel-somehow-u2-before-chapel-is-cool-but-misguided

Feel the Heat! (or not)
This is the start of the first full week of October, and I've wasted yet another month of my life trying to prepare to be a productive member of society.
Also, It's cold out here.
This was home coming week, so things were a bit packed thanks to all the returning alumni. Thankfully most people seemed to decide to eat out yesterday, which made my managing shift in the cafeteria a whole lot easier. We had a few awesome speakers and stuff. Yeah, stuff. And stuff and stuff and stuff'n'stuff and even more filler. Not much this week I'm afraid.
I have a test tomorrow, so please pray for me.
and now, a video I linked on facebook for those of you who don't have facebook

Do-dee-do-do-do-do-do-do-do! Subscribe!
A quick update!
I have added an RSS feed button and a subscription option to the left.
What this means is that you can use the RSS feed to stay updated if you know what that is.
For those less tech-savy, you can have emails sent to you whenever I update this blog by selecting the "Subscribe via Email" option.
I will continue linking on facebook for a few more weeks, but I wish to have everyone that reads this to start using the new options I added. If you forget the address to this site for some reason, it's in my profile on FB.
Bless your face, Peace off!

Ow
As a new week dawns, so do other things... or something deep like that.
As far as those tests were concerned, I aced OT and barely passed Econ.
Now i have three left; one wednesday, one friday, one next monday. Yay.
Fun stuff; I've joined an MMA (mixed martial arts) group here on campus. My first night, and the guy leading the thing didn't show, so one of my friends just put me through some basics. Also, I'm going sparing with my friends now. Yesterday was my first day, and I received a lesson in humility. Now parts of me are sore, and I have a lovely bruise on my leg that is still red. Something that seems more fun than that to you guys, my roommate order a gaming keyboard at half-price on Amazon. When he goes to get rid of the box after extracting his keyboard, the box is heavier than it should be. Lo and behold, Another gaming keyboard! The very same as the one he ordered. Now I have a gaming keyboard that I won't be able to use for a year or two. So yeah, awesome. That steampunk game I mentioned a few weeks back has taken off. So far things are going slowly, but once every one is used to the motions, things should pick up.
And now, a flowchart:

A short one
As you can probably tell, I haven't settled on a regular update day yet. What's probably going to happen from now on is I'm going to just do it on the weekend (Fri-Sun) at some point in time.
Anyways, on with the post. We had an awesome chapel speaker this week and I can't remember her name for some reason. She lived through a Saline Abortion, and the only problem she currently has is a limp from Cerebral Palsy. Well, that and a tendency to get off track during a message. She's still a very awesome woman. She got the whole chapel fired up.
Here's an awkward photo of me:
Not much else going on. About to go to church now. Pray for me as I have two tests tomorrow.
Peace out all!

TOY STORY THREE!!!
This is generally the part where my posts start getting really small due to lack of things going on. Why? Because there is only so much that sticks out in my mind after I have emptied it in the previous post. But enough about that. It Bloging time! *cue power rangers theme*
Not much to report with the classes right now. First paper has been talked about in Business Law. In fact, that's the only paper for that class. And it's not due until December. So I have plenty of time to work on it. No mom, I'm not procrastinating; I'm actually working on it. No other paper assignments have been gone over yet, so the jury is out on those at the moment.
My roommate was shown a rather awesome video, and here it is:
Hope you enjoyed that if you were able to watch it. Go check out the other Literal trailers this guy has done. They are awesome.
Now, the reason for the blog's title.
Last night was an Alt night, where there lotsa games and stuff and karaoke going on. I played Laser tag, and lost. Which is good because last time I played it was 'lil sibs weekend and I was up against a bunch of midgets. I mean younger siblings. >_>
So it wasn't much of a challenge last time.
Anyways, they were showing Toy Story 3. Having grown up with the first two, this one hit hard. If you have seen the first two, you must see this. if you haven't seen Toy Story 1 + 2, watch those first and then watch this. Otherwise you will miss the whole thing.
Anyways, That's all for today. Peace out.
P.S. Why do I like saying anyways?

First post of the new blog! (aside from the previous one)
Cutting to the chase:
I am taking Microeconomics, Old Testament Literature, Information Systems for Business, Business Law, and Principles of Accounting I. I have a rather fun teacher for Econ, he uses amusing analogies and sometimes says something slightly quasi-awkward. i.e. When saying how trees have "kinks" in them then analogizing by saying we too are kinky. He obviously meant that we are flawed, but it was amusing anyway. He is also very conversational when he prays, which is a nice change from all the reverent cookie-cutter prayers I hear (Yes, he messes up some words there too).
For OT, I have the most sought after teacher for this class. And now I know why after being in his class for 1 1/2 weeks. He has this all down pat, coupled with his ability to engage the class and bring out points about the old testament you would have never caught on to unless he told you. One example is the Creation account. While it is about how God created the world, it serves another purpose. God speaks, and it is so. Now imagine if you needed a pen and I said "pen", and poof, pen. Wouldn't that be so awesome you show me to your friends? Now imagine if I said there was going to be a party at 9. You come, and there's only me. I say "party", and poof! there are rides, clowns, ponies, music, etc. Now what does that tell you about my word? You can trust it. If I say something is going to happen, it will happen. Same thing with God. When God says something should be, or will happen, it is so. He did it with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and others throughout the Old Testament. Which brings up my personal question, if you believe Jesus is the way, but not that God created the world the way he said he did, does your faith pass the Logic check? Sure we trust certain things certain people say and not other things, but that's because we have good reason to doubt those other things. Do we have any reason to doubt what says in one area but not another? Yes, believing in Jesus is all that is needed for salvation, but think about it for a while.
Info systems is so far a fairly decent class and may prove very useful as we go along. Biz Law is my new "politics" course so far, but my teacher is a heck of a lot more interesting that my previous politics professes. He talks fast (so if you're southern you won't get a word) and has what I'd think you'd call a dry sense of humor. Very entertaining, and the talking speed makes you pay attention so you don't miss anything. We'll see how this class turns out. And finally, accounting may be the only class I ask for clarification on certain things. That's a good thing by the way. But I worry how the semester is going to be. My teacher's husband got into a biking accident last week and is still in banged up shape. He broke all but 2 ribs on the right side, a collapsed lung, and I think some other trauma. His lung has inflated some since then, but I have yet to hear of any improvements. The husband also teaches here at the college.
And that is a basic synopsis of my academics. Other things to note, I gave blood on Tuesday! Soon I will get a card in the mail and find out what my blood type is. Also, Ken Ham was the chapel speaker for that day. So it was extra awesome! I'm also trying to get an RP group together with one of my new friends this semester. It's called Savage Worlds. If you know what D&D is, it's a simplified version of that where you can change the setting to whatever you want. The setting we'll be using is steampunk. Think industrial revolution era sci-fi.

I haven't gotten the story from my friend yet, but it based of another steampunk setting that a guy based a whole web comic around called Clockworks. It's pretty cool, and the comic will give you an idea of the setting. Note: we won't be following that particular story, it's a different one. So we'll see how that turns out.
Aside from all that, there isn't much else to speak of as of yet, other than I have 3 days of no school in a row due to labor day and the way my classes are scheduled. Wish me luck on my school stuff!
PS. Read Emily Dickinson's "Because I could not stop for death" poem to the Gilligan's Island theme.

The new blog.
Hello everyone.
For those of you who don't know, My name is Joseph Lamy. I am a Business Management major currently in my sophomore year at Cedarville University. For everyone else, this is where I'l be posting my blog from here on out instead of Facebook. I feel this will be easier since blogspot is meant for blogging, and Facebook's notes section isn't quite meant to be. I haven't decided on an update day as of yet, but Fridays are looking pretty good so far. We shall have to see.
Anyways,
Welcome to my blog. I'll be updating every week with how my week here at Cedarville University has been. I'll be covering how classes went, friend stuff, and any other tid-bits I feel like sharing. Also, I might make other posts relating to what's on my mind or any piece of news that I find interesting (this will mainly pertain to video games). Also, Xentus tends to be my primary username nowadays, so that's why this blog refers to me as such.
Some Rules:
1. No sexually explicit comments
2. Refrain from using profanity. I won't ban you or anything if you do, but please try and expand your vocabulary to express what you want to convey.
3. Respect the other readers. Everyone has an opinion, deal with it.
4. No advertising
5. No external links in the comments section without my expressed permission
6. Discussion of sexual issues in anything other than a serious and responsible manner is prohibited including "flirtatious" consensual conversation of an intimate nature. I'm not running a dating site here.
7. Sass me and you're fired
This list is not exhaustive. It will be updated as certain issues arise.
With all that said, thanks for reading, and I hope you return in the future.
